TLC Releases 2 New Songs

TLC Releases 2 New Songs

Chili and T-Boz of TLC

Back in early 2015, TLC announced they would be making their last album, and erected a Kickstarter campaign to make it happen. Now after over a year and fans’ accusations that it was all a scam, they’ve finally released some new music exclusively on iTunes Japan: “Joyride” and “Haters.”

Judging from the snippet, “Joyride” is a feel-good groove that’s in tandem with their signature TLC sound about the good times they’ve shared throughout the years.

“Haters” is another one of their confidence-boosting songs (much like their 1999 single “Unpretty) and addresses online and social media bullying. No details on their album titles and release date, but their manager Bill Diggins reveals in June to Paste Magazine that they’ve already chosen 15 songs for the album and it’s coming soon.

Chance The Rapper’s Brand Is Getting Bigger

Chance The Rapper in Halloween Kit Kat costume.

You can’t say that Chance the Rapper isn’t one of the hardest working guys in the business right now.

If his tweet is anything to go by, the Coloring Book rapper has written a new jingle for Kit Kat, for their upcoming Halloween campaign.

The post doesn’t say whether Chance just wrote the new jingle, recorded it or both, but it seems like he will be appearing in a commercial. We bet money that he’ll also be rapping the new jingle in that commercial as well. The Kit Kat news comes after the rapper just had recent partnerships with the likes of H&M and Nike.

The NRA Takes To Twitter To Mock Kim K Being Robbed In Paris

The NRA Takes To Twitter To Mock Kim K Being Robbed In Paris

Kim Kardashian in a photo while in Paris prior to her being robbed at gunpoint.

The National Rifle Association has taken to Twitter to seemingly mock Kim Kardashian after she was robbed of millions in jewellery by armed men in Paris.
The reality star was left shaken when five men, two dressed as police offers, broke into her apartment in the French capital during the early hours Monday morning (October 3), robbing her at gunpoint of up to $10 million worth of jewelry.
However, not everyone has been sympathetic towards Kim, and now pro-gun advocacy NRA has shared its thoughts on the ordeal, posting pretend opposing views on the issue of gun control.
“Wait, criminals held @KimKardashian at gunpoint in Paris? How is that possible? Does anyone know if they passed a background check first?” a post read on the gun lobby’s official Twitter page.
The NRA’s unsympathetic response could be linked to the reality star’s outspoken stance on gun control following the mass shootings at an Orlando nightclub in June, which became the deadliest in U.S. history.
Kim has remained silent on social media since the incident and jetted to New York on Monday to be reunited with her husband Kanye West, who has postponed two dates on his Saint Pablo tour to support his wife.

Kid Cudi Checks Into Rehab

Kid Cudi Checks Into Rehab

Kid Cudi

As much of the Hip Hop community focused their attention towards the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards, Kid Cudi was cleaning out his closet and giving validity to many fans’ assumptions that his recent tongue-lashing directed at Drake and Kanye West was a cry for help.

Although he seemed confident at the time of the Twitter rant and released a couple of singles from his upcoming Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, apparently, the devil’s minions were still inhabiting his soul.
In an open Facebook post, Cudi, 34, copped to not only be depressed but suicidal and Monday, October 3, he checked himself into an undisclosed rehab location.

Common’s Next Project Deals With Historical Issues Of Black Community

Common dubbed the ‘conscious’ rapper is no stranger to controversial rap songs.

Common is no stranger to controversy. Dubbed a “conscious” rapper early in his career, the Southside Chicago native has used his hip-hop platform to discuss meaty issues within the Black community.

He often rapped about living in marginalized communities, touching on everything from abortion and misogyny to economic and racial inequality.

In his latest work, Black America Again featuring Stevie Wonder, due in November, he continues this approach raising questions about some of the many issues that have historically plagued the black community — while simultaneously offering up possible solutions as to how we can combat them.

The Grammy award winning rapper attended FAMU on scholarship for 2 years majoring in business administration.

Ex-NBA Star Darryl Dawkins Dies At 58

Ex-NBA Star Darryl Dawkins Dies At 58

One of our favorite centers, who played with the Philadelphia 76ers during Julius “Dr. J.” Erving era , Darryl Dawkins, whose board-shattering dunks earned him the moniker “Chocolate Thunder” and helped pave the way for breakaway rims, has died. He was 58.
The Lehigh County, Pennsylvania coroner’s office said Dawkins died Thursday morning at a hospital. Later Thursday, Dawkins’ family said a heart attack was the cause of death. Officials said an autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

“Darryl touched the hearts and spirits of so many with his big smile and personality, ferocious dunks, but more than anything, his huge, loving heart,” his family said in a statement. “His family, wife Janice, children Dara, Tabitha, Nicholas and Alexis, along with countless family, friends, and fans, all mourn his loss. More than anything Darryl accomplished in his basketball career as the inimitable ‘Chocolate Thunder,’ he was most proud of his role and responsibility as a husband and father.”

Dawkins spent parts of 14 seasons in the NBA with Philadelphia, New Jersey, Utah and Detroit. He averaged 12 points and 6.1 rebounds in 726 career regular-season games.

“A great man, entertainer, athlete and ferocious dunker,” former NBA guard Kevin Johnson wrote on Twitter. “He will be missed but not forgotten.”

He was selected No. 5 in the 1975 NBA draft by the 76ers. His “Chocolate Thunder” nickname, he often said, was given to him by legendary singer Stevie Wonder — who is blind.

“People don’t want to believe it. … A guy who never saw me gave me the name Chocolate Thunder,” Dawkins said in a 2012 interview.

Tributes poured in quickly from across the league, including from the 76ers.

“Simply put, Darryl Dawkins was beloved-by his family, friends, former teammates and his fans all over the globe,” 76ers CEO Scott O’Neil said. “His endearing charm, infectious smile and unparalleled sense of humor will be sorely missed. ‘Chocolate Thunder’ will always have a special place in our hearts. His family is in our thoughts and prayers.”

Dawkins was as revered off the court as he was on it. He remained enormously popular after his playing days were done, even during his stint as a member of the Harlem Globetrotters. He would name his dunks — the “look out below,” the “yo-mama” and the “rim wrecker” among them — and often boasted that he hailed from the “Planet Lovetron.”

Injuries plagued him late in his NBA career, and he went overseas for several more years to play primarily in the Italian league.

“You were one of my favorite players of all time,” Houston center Dwight Howard posted Thursday on Instagram under a photo of Dawkins dunking in a game for the 76ers. “You were very inspirational to a lot of young players. Thank u for the long talks and great memories. I can’t believe that you’re gone. But you are in a better place. You were the originator of the dunk.
